And now for the inexplicably obligatory narrative:

We in the Fort are hurting.  After a terrific season that culminated in two championship appearances and a Fiesta Bowl win, we have now faced defeat with our first steps on the field (Johnny Hodges wasn't mincing words when he frankly described us as the "laughing stock of college football").  We will now be hosting Nicholls State, whose receiver, Quincy Brown, was formerly one of our number, and may therefore be inspired to play harder ball than he brought against the victorious Sacramento State last Saturday (we can only hope our team will similarly improve from their lackluster performance against Colorado).

Both teams having now suffered a loss, one has much to gain, and the other everything to lose.  If Nicholls State proves victorious on Saturday, they will be able to boast beating a team that was ranked going into the season.  However, if TCU loses, we can write this season in red, as we'll be fortunate to beat anyone.  Save maybe Baylor.

In short, it's TCU's game to lose.  Let's not.
