Mike Miles Signs Two-Way Deal With Dallas Mavericks Despite Being Undrafted

Last season's leading scorer for TCU goes undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft but finds himself staying close to home with the Dallas Mavericks.

To the surprise of many, Mike Miles, TCU's leading scorer the last two seasons, went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft Thursday. After completing pre-draft workouts with the Thunder, Hawks, and Bucks, they all passed on him, leaving Miles as one of the top prospects to go undrafted.

Almost instantly after the draft's completion, news was released per Shams Charania of The Athletic that Mike will be signing a two-way deal with the Dallas Mavericks to be able to stay in the DFW Metroplex. Miles instantly showed his excitement on the decision by tweeting, "We staying home!".

Miles averaged 17.9 points per game his final season with the Horned Frogs improving his three point percentage from 29.5% the previous year to 36.2% and two point percentage from 42.7% to 56.3%. At only 20 years old, he still is only scratching the surface of his potential and will continue to develop his game at the next level.

Signing a two-way contract allows Mike to have a legitimate chance to make the roster and compete for playing time. With Kyrie Irving's status in Dallas still in question, Miles will get the chance to compete with Frank Ntilikina and McKinley Wright IV for the opportunity to backup Luka Doncic.

It may not have been the ideal scenario, but Miles finds himself in a dream spot where he can both stay close to home and play alongside a superstar guard in Doncic.

Miles joins Desmond Bane and Kenrich Williams as other Horned Frogs in the NBA.
