With a 9-2 win over the Charlotte 49ers, the Tennessee Volunteers find themselves in a super regional for another season. It is the Vols' sixth regional championship in program history. A huge factor in the Volunteers' offense that got them to this point was the hitting from infielder Zane Denton. In the three games the Volunteers played in, he finished with a .250 average, three home runs, and 5 RBI.

The standout play in the series came in the middle game of the three against Clemson. The Volunteers found themselves down 4-2 in the top of the ninth, and Denton hit a massive three-run homer to left field to put the Volunteers on top. The ball hit the top of the bleacher roof in the outfield at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. It would help set up a 6-5 victory that the Vols earned in 14 innings.Denton, on that at-bat after the game, "I was just trying to battle and just keep the game alive. Luckily, I got a fastball I could handle, and I already saw two fastballs, so I knew already what it looked like, and I just put a good swing on it."

He also homered in the win against the 49ers that sealed the Vols title as champions of the Clemson regional. The former Alabama transfer has been a great presence at the plate all season for the Vols. His overall season batting average sits at .277, and he was relatively consistent all year. However, with 15 home runs all season, it was a surprise to see him launch the ball so many times in critical moments as he did. This could be someone the Volunteers can depend on in the super-regional round to get their lineup hot. Tennessee will await either Southern Miss or Penn to play in the super-regional round.
