Tennessee edge rusher Byron Young is a name that was not necessarily a first-round prospect when NFL teams were looking at draft boards throughout the early part of the offseason. However, many teams did take note of Young and had him as a high upside day-two player.

That is exactly where he landed, with the Los Angeles Rams selecting Young early on in the third round. The Rams are a great landing spot for the All-SEC outside linebacker. Young had a few places that were possible for him to head to, but in the end, the 2021 Super Bowl Champs liked what they saw from Young.

Young projects as a guy that may start from week one forward, already listed as the starting OLB for LA on ourlads.com. He will be under the tutelage of fellow elite front-seven force Aaron Donald. Although Donald is an interior lineman, he will surely have oodles of knowledge for Young regarding pass rushing and defending in the run game.

As far as the man calling the plays and developing Young, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is the man for the job. In Morris's time as the Ram's defensive play-caller, he has not been afraid to give young guys a shot right off the bat. Multiple times, we have seen Morris let rookies or young guys earn their keep right off the bat.

With a rebuilding Rams squad that shipped off guys like Jalen Ramsey and Allen Robinson, it is the perfect spot for Young to thrive and get as much experience as possible early on. Many scouts and executives raved about the Georgia Military product in the pre-draft process, and now we will get our chance to see him on the big stage.
