Darnell Wright Climbs In Recent Dane Brugler Mock

In this story:
Many Tennesee football fans and NFL evaluators waited with excitement for last weekend's NFL combine. The Vols had seven players from last season's Orange Bowl-winning squad invited to Indianapolis for the Combine. The list included potential first-round offensive tackle Darnell Wright.
Wright's performance may have been enough to cement a first-round grade, according to The Athletic's Dane Brugler. Despite some elite performances on the tape, he came into the combine with a lot to prove. The 6-5 and 333-pound tackle, as measured in Indy, did not allow a single sack or QB hit against UGA and Alabama's ferocious pass rushes, among other elite showings in 2022.
The question was how well Wright would do in the athletic testing department. As it turns out, the answer was very well. For those unfamiliar, RAS (Relative Athletic Score) is a metric that analyzes a combination of a prospect's size, explosion, and speed.
They are given a score from 1-10. Wright scored out with a mark of 9.45, with "great" measures in both his composite speed and explosion grades, aided by his 5.01 40-yard dash time, the third highest since 2003 among players over 330 pounds.
In Brugler's mock, Wright was selected at the end of the first round, with the 31st pick, to the Super Bowl runner-up, the Philadelphia Eagles. On a contender, Wright would join elite blockers such as Jason Kelce and Jordan Mailata.
It is fair to wonder if Wright will climb even higher than that after his elite showing at Lucas Oil Stadium after an equally elite season against SEC front sevens. On April 27, we will find out where Darnell will land.
