Harrison Bailey Finds Third College Home In The ACC

In this story:
College hasn't gone how quarterback Harrison Bailey thought it would. The former four-star signal caller was a top-100 recruit in high school, starring at Marietta High School in Georgia alongside five-star tight end Arik Gilbert. The pairing made national headlines for years, and Bailey ended his career by signing a letter of intent to play football for the University of Tennessee. Of course, he won a state championship before arriving on Rocky Top in January 2020, the first in Marietta program history.
The Bailey hype got out of control as soon as he walked on campus. Many compared him to Tennessee legend Peyton Manning, who became the No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick in 1998 and an NFL Hall-of-Famer. Those expectations are ludicrous for any prospect, and when Bailey struggled, many were disappointed. He transferred to UNLV after the 2021 season, but after one season in the desert, Bailey decided to re-enter the portal. He made his third college decision in as many years on Thursday, announcing that he will transfer to Louisville as a preferred walk-on.
The Cardinals added three quarterbacks from the transfer portal this offseason. Cal quarterback Jake Plummer and Purdue quarterback Brady Allen are on scholarship with Louisville after previously spending time with head coach Jeff Brohm. It will be an uphill battle for Bailey to see the field, especially since he has yet to get many meaningful in-game reps during his college career. Bailey attempted 58 passes with UNLV last season and 75 in his two seasons with the Vols.
