Four Possible Landing Spots for Hendon Hooker

Former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker earned a spot on an NFL roster for his 2022 performance. The question is, which one will it be?

It's no hot take that Hendon Hooker was phenomenal for the Tennessee Volunteer Football team in 2022. Hooker, in 11 games, threw for over 3,000 yards with a touchdown to interception ratio of nearly 14 to 1.

Hooker, despite a late-season torn ACL, is a name to watch in the first couple of rounds in the upcoming NFL Draft, April 27-29. Hooker could not work out at the Combine in Indianapolis, but he did receive good news medically.

The question for Hooker is not if but where he will join camp for 1 of the 32 NFL teams. Here is a look at four teams likely to be in contention for the 2022 SEC Offensive Player of The Year.

Las Vegas Raiders

Vegas signed veteran quarterback Jimmy Garropolo to a multi-year deal on Monday afternoon. However, they will likely still seek a young quarterback for Garropolo to mentor. If guys like Will Levis, CJ Stroud, and Anthony Richardson go too high for the Raiders' liking, Hooker could be their man later in the draft

New York Giants

Much like the Raiders, the Giants have locked up a quarterback already with a long-term deal. The G Men signed Daniel Jones to a four-year extension last week, but are going to be in the market for a backup, likely a young and cheap one. Hooker fits the bill, and with the offense that Brian Daboll runs, Hooker could learn to run to it very efficiently.

Indianapolis Colts

Nearly everyone expects the Colts to pick a quarterback with the third pick in the draft. However, we have seen teams draft multiple quarterbacks in the same draft. For example, in the 2012 NFL Draft, Washington selected Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins. Indy also is slated to have a Top-30 interview with Hooker.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans are an interesting case. Perhaps they could bring in Hooker and keep him in Tennessee. They still have Ryan Tannehill, but many have predicted the Titans trading him away. Whether he stays or not, there is also Malik Willis. Willis looked very shaky in 2022 and may not be the long-term answer. Because of these two, the Titans may not be comfortable spending first-round capital on a signal caller. On day two, they may be more inclined, especially if Hooker is there.
