Boo Carter Highlights Weekend Visitors For Tennessee

Elite in-state 2024 athlete Boo Carter will be visiting the Tennessee Volunteers over the weekend. Carter is garnering a lot of interest, but the Vols have been involved for months.

The name Boo Carter is quite familiar to those that keep up with the recruiting world. The Chattanooga native made history when he became the first Tennessee high school athlete to sign a NIL deal, and his on-field talents match the financial compensation of it.

He could play running back or defensive back in college. Volunteer Country projects him as a STAR/overhang defender in college, one with the freedom to roam the backend and make plays on the strong side of the field in both run support and pass coverage.

On Wednesday, Carter announced that he plans to be in Knoxville this Saturday. It will be a short trip for the Brainerd High School talent; the distance between his home field and the campus is around a 90-minute trip. The Vols have been quite active in his recruitment and were the early favorite. Ohio State, Michigan, and Oregon are the primary contenders for his services, but Tennessee holds a large lead.

He would provide a lot of flexibility to a 2024 class with a lot in its defensive back room. After a six-interception season for a nationally-ranked team, corner Kaleb Beasley is becoming a hot name on recruiting outlets. Safety Marcus Goree is beginning to get his flowers after people noticed his strong talents at a slender size.

Tennessee is expecting a lot of news on the recruiting trail this week. Top-100 quarterback Jake Merkligner is making his college decision on Thursday, and the coveted passer will decide between Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan State. The Vols expect to land him and continue building this offensive class that began with tight end Jonathan Echols and wide receiver JJ Harrell.

Offensive lineman Daniel Calhoun is also visiting. Calhoun is their No. 1 target up front; his immediate size and technique would raise the floor of any room at guard or tackle. He is strongly considering Alabama and Georgia, with Texas looming.
