George MacIntyre Sits Atop Available Quarterback Market

In this story:
The LSU Tigers landed the No. 1 player in the 2025 cycle on Saturday evening, five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. He chose LSU over Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, and several other programs. Though Tennessee wasn't recruiting Underwood, the news was quite significant for their coaching staff, as it affects their top quarterback priority.
Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre told On3's Chad Simmons earlier this month that Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee were the three programs that had separated themselves in his recruitment, but that two schools were standing apart from the field. With Underwood off to LSU, you must assume that this is a two-team race between the Crimson Tide and the Vols for the top uncommitted signal caller in the country.
247Sports' Composite: Top 2025 Quarterbacks
- Bryce Underwood - LSU
- George MacIntyre - Uncommitted
- Tavien St. Clair - Ohio State
- Deuce Knight - Notre Dame
- Antwann Hill - Uncommitted
- Akili Smith Jr. - Oregon
- KJ Lacey - Texas
- Husan Longstreet - Uncommitted
- Carter Smith - Michigan
- Bear Bachmeier - Uncommitted
As you can see, there aren't many options left for Tennessee after MacIntyre. They've put all their eggs in this basket from the start, and Alabama began to do the same a few months ago. MacIntyre's recruitment likely determines the outlook of Tennessee's 2025 recruiting class, one that has a lot of potential if the right pieces fall into place.
