The TCU Horned Frogs (31-18, 15-8) moved in front Saturday by winning its second straight game at Kansas. TCU finishes Big 12 play on Sunday while Texas Tech (vs. Oklahoma) and Oklahoma State (at Baylor) each have one series remaining.

In the fifth inning, Owen Washburn hit the grand slam that would cap a seven-run inning for Tech. On Friday, Cole Stilwell provided the fireworks for a five-run fourth inning with a two-out grand slam that flipped the lead.

On Saturday, Washburn's dinger broke a 1-1 tie that gave the Red Raiders the lead for good.

Leading the team from the mound was Brandon Birdsell. The junior right-hander threw seven innings allowing just two earned runs and three hits. He struck out five and walked two. Birdsell now leads the Big 12 with a 2.12 ERA and a .186 opposing batting average. He's also tied for the lead in the Big 12 for wins alongside the Longhorns' Pete Hanson with eight.

The win secured Texas Tech's fourth-straight series win against the Cowboys as they make a bid for their second-straight road sweep in Stillwater after taking all three during a visit in 2018.

Up next for the Red Raiders is the series finale at 1 p.m. at O'Brate Stadium.
