When it comes to sports, recency bias can heavily impact how certain players are viewed by the media and fans alike. One bad game or stretch of bad games is enough to see them written off.

Texas Longhorns Xavier Worthy experienced this firsthand after an uncharacteristic end to his season, including an Alamo Bowl loss that saw him drop two deep balls from Quinn Ewers - one of which he likely walks in for a touchdown.

Despite a shaky ending to his sophomore season, Worthy has been named a 2023 Walter Camp preseason Second-Team All-American and is the only Longhorn to be named.

With the poor back half of the season, during which he played with a broken hand, it can be easy to forget just how good Worthy is.

One year removed from a freshman season that saw him record 981 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 62 receptions, he hauled in 60 receptions for 760 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore.

Now, he enters his junior season hoping to be fully healthy and get back to how dominant he looked as a freshman. If he can do that, then this Longhorns offense could take another step forward in its pursuit of a conference championship.
