Have Longhorns Missed Opportunity With Five-Star WR Ryan Wingo?

According to On3's recruiting prediction machine, the Missouri Tigers wide receiver Ryan Wingo's favorite at the moment.

The Texas Longhorns had been the top choice of five-star wide receiver 2024 recruit Ryan Wingo up until a few days ago.

According to On3's recruiting prediction machine, the Missouri Tigers are the favorite at the moment. The Tigers now uphold a 48.5 percent chance of securing Wingo compared to the Longhorns' 30.2 percent.

Part of the reason Missouri is so attractive to Wingo is the relationship he has built with the Tiger's coach Eli Drinkwitz.

“He is one of the head coaches that I talk to the most and have a great relationship with. It is very casual with Coach Drink,” Wingo said. “Being comfortable with the coaches and the players are something super-important to me and he is one of the coaches I am comfortable with. With Missouri, it is that comfortable feeling because of who all I know there. From the coaches to Luther Burden to Marvin Burks, Jr. to others, that is something that stands out about Missouri.”

The six-foot-two, 205 pound receiver from St. Louis (Mo.) University High is ranked as the No. 2 wideout from the 2024 class in the country, according to 247Sports.

This past summer, Wingo officially visited Columbia and, in St. Louis, he watched the Tigers match up against Memphis. As a recruit, Wingo has visited Missouri nearly a dozen different times.

“Missouri is my home-state school and it is close to home. I know a lot of people up there and their pitch to me is to stay home. It is close to St. Louis and the main message from the players and the coaches is to stay home and represent your city,” Wingo told On3’s Chad Simmons last month.
