Longhorns Land Commitment from UT Arlington Transfer Chendall Weaver

The Texas Longhorns landed back-to-back commitments on Thursday, starting with UT Arlington transfer Chendall Weaver.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns have suddenly been barraged with transfer commitments on Thursday after a week of uncertainty following the decommitment of five-star forward Ron Holland.

Texas has landed UT Arlington transfer guard Chendall Weaver, per multiple reports. Joining guard Max Abmas and forward Kadin Shedrick, Weaver marked the program's third transfer addition of the offseason until it was announced just minutes later that UTEP Miners transfer forward Ze'Rik Onyema had also committed. Both players took visits this week and clearly didn't need much time to be convinced. The pair will hold a key role off the bench for Texas and coach Rodney Terry this upcoming season.

Weaver, who has just one year of experience under his belt, brings a ton of intrigue due to his youth and upside. Named the 2023 WAC Freshman of the Year, Weaver started in 25 of his 32 appearances as a freshman last season, averaging 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and two assists on 44.2 percent shooting. His scoring averages don't tell the whole story though, as he reached double figures in seven of his last 10 games this past season. This included a career-high 21-point effort against Sam Houston on Feb. 4, which began a six-game stretch of scoring at least 10 points.

At 6-3, 164, Weaver showed impressive ability on the boards as well, as he had 11 games with at least six rebounds and a 10-rebound game on Dec. 19 against San Francisco.

Behind Abmas and potentially Tyrese Hunter, Weaver could slide in as Terry's go-to sixth man off the bench this fall.
