WATCH: New Longhorns G Chendall Weaver Has Some Impressive Highlight Plays

In this story:
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns recently landed a commitment from UT Arlington transfer guard Chendall Weaver, who officially signed on Wednesday, bringing a lesser-known prospect to the bright lights of the Big 12.
But if Weaver can pull off some of the exciting plays he made as a freshman this past season, he won't be under the radar much longer.
Despite being under-recruited out of high school, the 2023 WAC Freshman of the Year earned the honor while having an efficient year from behind the arc (40.2 percent), a surprising impact on the glass for a guard (4.6 rebounds) and a solid scoring output (9.5 points). And if there was a stat for highlight plays, it's likely he would've stacked the numbers in that category as well.
Take a look:
Weaver showed impressive bounce and air-hanging athleticism on multiple occasions, highlighted by a transition windmill dunk he had in the second game of the season. Despite how talented Texas' guards were last season, none of them did this.

This play certainly raises expectations for each time Weaver gets out to run in transition. But when he's not showing off with a windmill, he's making quick and effortless strides past defenders to soar toward the hole off a turnover.

These plays are just a sample of what Weaver can do headed into next season, especially now that'll he have a full offseason to develop some more in Austin. Likely set to be a sixth man or the first guard off the bench, he can make an impact both on the scoreboard and for the energy level inside the Moody Center.
