Longhorns Transfer Portal: Updated List of Reported Contacts

Here's a full list of the reported contacts that the Texas Longhorns have made in the transfer portal so far this offseason.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Portal pandemonium is officially in full swing with the college basketball offseason upon us.

With seemingly an infinite number of players in the transfer portal, the Texas Longhorns - who are yet to have any of their own players announce the intent to transfer - have been busy reaching out to multiple players ahead of a 2023 season that could feature major roster overturn in the first full season under new head coach Rodney Terry.

Here's a full list - in last-name alphabetical order - of the players that Texas has reportedly still in the running for.

NOTE: This list is not a complete or official one provided by the program, but will be updated when more information becomes available.

Here are the players that have eliminated Texas from the running despite being contacted:

- TJ Bamba, G, Washington State (down to Villanova or Georgia Tech)

- Khalif Battle, G, Temple

- LJ Cryer, G, Baylor (committed to Houston)

- Jonathan Pierre, G, Nova Southeastern (Division II) (committed to Memphis)

- Tylor Perry, G, North Texas (does not have Texas in his top 12)

- Kel'el Ware, C, Oregon (committed to Indiana)

- Reese Dixon-Waters, G, USC (committed to San Diego State)

- Dalton Knecht, Wing, Northern Colorado

First reported: USA TODAY

2022-23 stats: 20.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists

Quick Hit: Knecht was a scoring machine for Northern Colorado this past season. He reached the 20-point mark 17 times and led the Big Sky in scoring despite averaging just 8.9 points per game the season before. The most impressive part? He still managed to shoot 48 percent from the field this season despite the hefty scoring load.

Highlights:

- Kebba Njie, F, Penn State

First reported: Jon Rothstein

2022-23 stats: 3.4 points, 3.5 rebounds

Quick Hit: Njie's Nittany Lions were eliminated by the Longhorns in the Round of 32 last month. Much like he was all season, Njie wasn't much of a factor in that loss due to the experience surrounding him on the team. Still, he started 26 games as a freshman this past season, and has tons of basketball ahead of him. At 6-10, 237, he could give Texas nice size in the frontcourt with the decisions of Dylan Disu and Dillon Mitchell still unknown as of now.

- Austin Nunez, G, Arizona State

First reported: The Athletic

2022-23 stats: 4.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists

Quick Hit: A native of Garden Ridge, Texas right out of San Antonio, Nunez could now come back to his home state after one year with the Sun Devils. He showed promising flashes as a freshman this past season, which included a season-high 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting in a dominant 87-62 win over No. 20 Michigan on Nov. 17. Nunez is also receiving heavy interest from former Texas coach Chris Beard at Ole Miss.

Highlights:

- Quincy Olivari, G, Rice

First reported: LonghornsCountry.com

2022-23 stats: 18.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists

Quick Hit: In No. 7 Texas' 87-81 overtime win over Rice in Austin on Dec. 12 - the same day former Texas coach Chris Beard was arrested - Olivari nearly led the Owls to a major upset on the road by tying a game-high with 28 points on four made 3s to go along with five rebounds and four assists. He is Rice's all-time leader in 3-pointers made (230), and reached the 30-point mark four times this season, failing to post double figures in scoring just three times.

Highlights:

- Kadin Shedrick, F, Virginia

First reported: Stockrisers

2022-23 stats: 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.4 blocks

Quick Hit: Shedrick didn't post the most insane scoring numbers this past season, but his impact went far beyond the offensive stats. At 6-11, 231, he's got impressive size and length that helps him provide high-energy play as a big man on both ends. This season, he had nine games with at least two blocks and five games with at least four blocks.

Highlights:

- AJ Storr, G, St. John's

First reported: Jon Rothstein

2022-23 stats: 8.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists

Quick Hit: Storr was one of many players to transfer out of St. John's at the start of this offseason once coach Rick Pitino was hired. Despite his lower scoring numbers from a season-wide perspective, Storr ended off his freshman year hot, reaching double figures in scoring in 11 of his last 16 games. This included a 23-point performance in a loss to the Creighton Bluejays on Jan. 25, as Storr led all scorers in a game that was filled with tons of talent on both sides.
