'We're a Unit!' Longhorns WR Xavier Worthy Details Reason for Confidence Ahead of Alabama Matchup

The Texas Longhorns got rocked by the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville in 2021, and ahead of their trip to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide, Xavier Worthy revealed what exactly has changed in Austin.

The Texas Longhorns were embarrassed 40-21 in Fayetteville by the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2021 in their last road matchup with an SEC team.

Now, in their final Big 12 season, they face one final SEC road test before heading to the conference, when they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.

And while many are weary of the Horns' chances heading into Bryant-Denney Stadium, Texas receiver Xavier Worthy is confident there will be a different result.

"I feel like the team that went into Arkansas, we weren't really like a family," Worthy said. "We weren't one. I feel like this team, like if something happens, if one of us are gonna fight all of us are gonna fight. So I feel like this team is one. … We’re like a unit not just separate. We're playing for each other."

Texas showed signs of that change last season against Bryce Young and the Crimson Tide in Austin, narrowly falling 20-19.

They did so, despite being relegated to their backup quarterback, as well as a critical missed safety call by the referees in the end zone on Young himself.

That result, combined with the Longhorns vast improvements in the offseason, are reasons for optimism for players and fans alike.

And Worthy isn't alone either, as Steve Sarkisian echoed similar sentiments this summer when speaking about the improvements of his team.

“This team is different,” Sarkisian stated. “They have a different look in their eye, they look different on the hoof, they interact with one another differently. I’ve used the adage (of) I feel like this team is on a mission, said Sarkisian. “That’s the approach they have every day that they show up in the facility.”

Worthy, Sarkisian and the Longhorns will have their chance to prove just that this Saturday in Tuscaloosa in front of a national audience.
