How to Watch: Texas vs. Gonzaga in 2024 NCAA Women's Tournament Sweet 16

Game set as Texas faces off against Gonzaga in the 2024 NCAA Women's Tournament Sweet 16.

The Texas Longhorns are Oregon bound.

The NCAA has announced that Texas will go head-to-head with Gonzaga in the third round of the tournament at 9 p.m. CT on Friday. This Sweet 16 showdown is scheduled to take place at Portland's Moda Center, with ESPN broadcasting the game.

Led by standout freshman Madison Booker, the Longhorns cruised into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament by overwhelming the Drexel Dragons 84-42 and the Alabama Crimson Tide 65-54 in the opening rounds. Hosting at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas showcased its dominance on the court.

In the Longhorns' second-round win against Alabama, Booker's standout performance included 21 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals, sealing an 11-point victory. Meanwhile, Gonzaga advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time in nearly a decade after double-digit triumphs over the UC-Irvine Anteaters and Utah Utes in the tournament's opening rounds.

Although Texas and Gonzaga have not crossed paths on the court before, some Longhorns have encountered the Zags in previous matchups. During her tenure with BYU from 2018 to 2022, UT guard Shaylee Gonzales averaged 16.1 points across nine games against Gonzaga.

Gonzaga (32-3), boasting its highest-ever seed in the NCAA Tournament at No. 4, has justified its position with stellar performances. The team began its tournament journey with a resounding 75-56 triumph over UC Irvine and followed up with another victory against Utah on Monday night.

Spearheading Gonzaga's campaign is senior forward Yvonne Ejim, who claimed both the player of the year and defensive player of the year accolades in the West Coast Conference this season.

The team that walks away with the win in the Longhorns-Zags clash will progress in a matchup against either Stanford or North Carolina State in the Elite Eight on Sunday.
