Two Longhorns Make On3 Industry's Top SEC Commits in Transfer Portal Rankings

New Texas Longhorns Isaiah Bond and Trey Moore make On3 Industry's Top SEC Commits in Transfer Portal Rankings.

In recent years, the transfer portal has proven to be a trusty pipeline for the Texas Longhorns top tier talent with additions like starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell among others.

By On3's rankings, the Texas Longhorns have successfully secured two of the top 10 transfers in the SEC. Isaiah Bond, a wide receiver, has transferred from Alabama, earning the No. 2 spot, while Trey Moore, an edge player from UTSA, takes the No. 10 position.

Steve Sarkisian, the former Alabama offensive coordinator has picked up a handful of Alabama standouts, including Isaiah Bond. Bond, the leading receiver for Alabama this season, is poised to become one of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers' primary targets in 2024. A standout ESPN top-100 recruit, Bond concluded the season with impressive stats, boasting 48 catches, 668 yards, and four receiving touchdowns.

Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 182 pounds, Bond, a true junior entering the 2024 season, is positioned among the top tier of wide receivers for the 2025 NFL draft. He gained widespread recognition for his pivotal role in one of the most iconic plays of the 2023 season, securing the fourth-and-31 touchdown pass in the memorable "Gravedigger" play that secured a victory over Auburn.

With Ewers set to take the reins, Bond is anticipated to have even more opportunities to showcase his skills in 2024. Despite playing in one fewer game, Ewers threw the ball an impressive 110 more times than Jalen Milroe, setting the stage for Bond to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.

For the defense, On3 ranks edge Trey Moore as No. 10 coming from UTSA in the AAC. While Moore isn't the sole addition to the Longhorns' edge player lineup, which already boasts some experienced members, including several highly skilled incoming freshmen, his established college-level experience positions him as the most probable enhancement to the group.

Ranked as the fourth-best edge player and 20th overall in the transfer portal, Moore has earned his standing through impressive performances at UTSA. In 2022, he made a significant impact with 59 tackles, leading Conference USA with 18.0 tackles for loss and contributing 8.0 sacks.

Despite playing in two fewer games this year, Moore continued his stellar performance with 45 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and an impressive 14.0 sacks, even securing an interception. Notably, Moore topped the AAC in both tackles for loss and sacks, leading to him being honored as the AAC Defensive Player of the Year.
