Texas Longhorns Spring Game Could Be Canceled

According to Texas officials, the kickoff of the spring game could be in jeopardy

AUSTIN - The Texas Longhorns are set to take the field for the annual Orange-White spring game on Saturday at 1 pm CT, in what will be one of the more anticipated editions of the scrimmage in quite some time.

At least they hope.

Per Texas senior associate athletics director John Bianco, via the Austin-American Statesman, the kick for the spring game could be in jeopardy thanks to a forecast of inclement weather that shows a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms.

And according to Bianco, should that indeed be the case, there are no plans to delay or reschedule the contest.

Should the game indeed be canceled, it would come as huge blow to fans, with the scrimmage usually one of the bigger events on campus during the spring. There were also plans for a concert from country band Reckless Kelly, which is based in the Austin area.

More importantly, however, it would have given fans a chance to see a plethora of new incoming talents for the first time, such as transfers Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Andrew Mukuba, Trey Moore, Amari Niblack, and others.

They also would have gotten their first glimpse at the new incoming talent in the freshman class such as Ryan Wingo, Brandon Baker and Collin Simmons - each of whom could play a big role next season.

Quarterback Arch Manning is also likely set to get a good portion of reps during the game, which is also an exciting prospect for Texas fans everywhere.

Should the game go on as planned, kickoff is set for 1 pm CT, with the game to be broadcast on Longhorn Network.
