UCLA Football: Key Bruins Defender Meeting With NFC North Team For Pre-Draft Visit

UCLA star edge rusher Gabriel Murphy will meet with the Minnesota Vikings this Monday.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo announced via X.

According to many draft experts, Murphy is projected to be selected on day two or possibly day three of the NFL draft. While Murphy is not the star like his counterpart Laiatu Latu is, Murphy is no joke. In his two seasons at UCLA, Murphy displayed dominance, recording 76 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three passes defended and one fumble recovery.

He showed his defensive prowess in the highest stage at UCLA after three seasons at North Texas. The Vikings are a team that would need exactly what Murphy offers. Last season, Minnesota ranked 21st in the league in sack percentage at 6.63% and ranked 19th in takeaways per game at 1.3. Murphy is a pest at getting to the quarterback and backfield.

He is an exceptional athlete and displays great agility and change of direction in his pass-rush ability. Murphy also utilizes a quick swim move as a counter off the ball, indicating solid technique and has a first step with quick disengagement tactics in the run game.

Murphy will likely be available towards the end of day two or three. Wherever he lands, and whatever pick he is, he will be a force on defense and trouble for offenses.
