UCLA Football: DeShaun Foster Reflects On Position Change For Assistant Coach

The UCLA Bruins have spent all offseason trying to build themselves back to a place of contention. Former head coach Chip Kelly is now with the Ohio State Buckeyes as their offensive coordinator and DeShaun Foster has stepped in to become the new leader of the Bruins.

Foster has been looking to rebuild the culture at UCLA, bringing even more energy and excitement to the program. He has done a good job so far, even if there is plenty of work still left to do.

Within this, Foster has constructed a solid coaching staff alongside him. But one coach will be changing titles under Foster. Former wide receivers coach Jerry Neuheisel will now be working as the tight ends coach for next season.

"Foster said Jerry Neuheisel going from wide receivers coach to tight ends coach is a move that will accelerate his desire to call plays."

Neuheisel had been promoted to the position of wide receivers coach in January 2021 but will now be given a new challenge. The priority for the Bruins is getting their offense back to a place of consistency. Far too often last season the Bruins offense was their downfall and Foster doesn't want a repeat of that.

Switching Neuheisel over to the tight ends could be a sign of wanting more from the receiving core. The Bruins seem to be in good shape at the moment but the hard work will be beginning very soon.
