UCLA Football: Chip Kelly Gets Candid About Laiatu Latu Skipping LA Bowl To Prep For Draft

Latu has a lot on his plate

Your UCLA Bruins football program is dealing with a ton of changes as the Bruins approach their LA Bowl game against the Boise State Broncos, slated for this weekend.

The Bruins will participate in the LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium; however, a handful of Bruins won't be available due to the transfer portal or preparing for the NFL, like UCLA's defensive stud Laiatu Latu

Latu will not play against the Broncos, and UCLA head coach Chip Kelly talked about Latu's decision not to play to team insiders from 247Sports.

"He's got a lot, he's been away, he's got a lot of his money. He's got finals, he's got three finals coming up. He was studying yesterday. Latu is the only guy we have in that situation, but not in terms of in preparation for the NFL and really try to finish up school."

Latu has done all he can and more for the Bruins in his two-year tenure.

The 22-year-old overcame all odds, and being back in the gridiron was an accomplishment in itself. No one expected him to come back, be even better than he was before the neck injury, and have the opportunity to be a first-round draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Latu is truly a unique talent, and we cannot wait to see him excel at the next level.
