UCLA Football: Chip Kelly Praises "Unheard Of" 2-Way Buffaloes Star Before Meeting

Unprecedented in today's era.

UCLA faces off against the Colorado Buffaloes in their Week 8 matchup as the 23rd-ranked Bruins look to make a statement.

Deion Sanders has become the talk of the town due to his revival of the previously one-win program from last year but Chip Kelly isn't here for fairy tales.

Kelly looks at the team's next opponent with a bunch of respect including big praise for one of the most unique players in the sport, Travis Hunter. Kelly Told Ben Bolch of The LA Times

“It’s unheard of,” Kelly said. “You know, some guys do it in spots where, you know, they’re a full-time [defensive back] and then they run eight to 10, 15 routes on offense, and he’s playing 50 snaps on offense and playing 50 snaps on defense. So, I think from a competitive-endurance standpoint, he’s as good as than maybe there’s ever been.”

Hunter made headlines in Colorado's season opener with over 100 yards receiving as a wideout and great coverage as a defensive back in the same game.

An injury forced him out of action for a few games this season but the two-way superstar is back for this divisional clash.

Both Colorado and UCLA are coming off games against Stanford in their previous matchups as the Buffaloes blew a 29-0 lead to the floundering Cardinal.

UCLA fared much better after they switched out Dante Moore for Ethan Garbers as their starting quarterback.

Running back Carson Steele once again impressed in the lead role on the evening as he notched three touchdowns on his 21st birthday.

Sanders' recent loss made him question his team's competitive fire but this next test against a ranked conference opponent will be another good gauge in what's been an interesting opening campaign.

Kelly will hope to add to that misery this weekend in a game that's vital for his team's Pac-12 title hopes.
