UCLA Football: Chip Kelly Talks Losing 2 QBs In Wildcats Defeat

Hopefully, either one of the Bruin QBs is out there against ASU

The UCLA Bruins are gearing up for a comeback after their tough Week 10 loss to the Arizona Wildcats. The defeat likely dashed their hopes of contending for a Pac-12 title, and they'll now rely on other Pac-12 teams to lend them a helping hand.

The game was a disappointment from start to finish, marked by the Bruins' struggles to move the ball effectively and put points on the board.

UCLA also lost two key quarterbacks in the form of Saturday's starter, Ethan Garbers, and freshman sensation Dante Moore. Head coach Chip Kelly acknowledged the challenges this presented, recognizing that winning on the road is already a difficult task, but losing both QBs made it a near-impossible feat.

At the time, Kelly was unsure of their injuries; he stated they were unavailable to go and how the Bruins shot themselves in the foot when they had opportunities to score in the red zone. On top of that, it made it hard for third-string QB Collin Schlee to come in and take over for an already struggling offense.

Schlee struggled mightily himself, failing to complete a single pass on five attempts and posting a QBR of 36.9.

Week 11 against Arizona State poses its own set of challenges, even though they hold a 2-7 record. ASU has a strong run defense, allowing 137.5 opponent rush yards per game, which ranks 48th in the country. They also perform well in pass defense, ranking 20th in opponent yards per pass allowed at 6.3.

The silver lining for the Bruins is that they'll be playing at home for this upcoming game, and there's hope that one of their top two QBs will be available to lead the charge. The team is eager to bounce back from the last disappointing outing and reclaim their winning ways.
