UCLA Bruins freshman quarterback Dante Moore had plenty of ups and downs throughout his first college season. At the beginning of the year, he was seen as possibly the quarterback of the future for this program, but by the end of it, there were some questions left to be answered.

In the team's final game of the season, Moore saw time due to injury, and he put together an okay performance. He finished the night against Cal by throwing for 266 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

It was a culmination of the tough year that he saw, and a reminder of the work that he needs to do this offseason. He spoke about his performance after the rough game.

“Something I stand on is that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. I know as of right now I’m going through a storm,” said Moore, who completed 23 of 38 passes for 266 yards with one touchdown in addition to the turnovers. “Right now I’m going through a tough battle. I know my faith and believe in the man upstairs and God and really my faith. A storm is going on, but at the end of the day I’m going to get through it. Things aren’t going my way."

Moore could end up being the starter for the Bruins next season, but he will need to fix some issues over the summer. For one thing, his turnovers have been a problem, and learning how to read defenses better will be critical for him.

“It kind of reminds me of my freshman year of high school. I had a lot of mistakes. I had a lot of picks, actually. My picks went down, lower and lower and lower, because I just learned the speed coming from Little League to high school, and of course going through the same thing in college. I just have to adapt and adjust to things.”

There is a lot to like about Moore's game, and the Bruins remain high on his upside. They are hopeful that things can work out this offseason, and he can take the reigns to open the new year.
