UCLA Football: DL From Johns Hopkins Commits to Bruins

The Bruins have landed a big DL from Johns Hopkins.

The UCLA Bruins may have been hit on the defensive side of the ball in terms of defensive players leaving for other schools, but they just landed a huge DL.

Luke Schuermann announced via X that he has officially committed to UCLA.

Schuermann was formerly a senior at Johns Hopkins University and now comes over to UCLA after securing career highs in tackles for loss and sacks the past three seasons. In 2023, Schuermann secured 15.5 TFL and 9.5 sacks.

Despite being at a Division III school, Schuermann can be a force on the defensive side of the ball for the Bruins.

It will be interesting to see how his motor and play translate to the Division I side of things, especially considering the Bruins will now be in the Big Ten conference.

Sadly, the Bruins lost D'Anton Lynn to the USC Trojans. Lynn was responsible for transforming the Bruins' defense into a top-10 unit.

Despite losing Lynn, the Bruins have been busy revamping their defensive staff.

The Bruins recently hired Tony Washington Jr. as DL coach. Washington comes over from Oregon and should do well with bringing the best out of Schuermann.

We look forward to seeing what Schuermann can do next season.
