UCLA Football: Ex-Bruins CB Making Presence Felt For NFL Squad

Putting in the work as a pro.

UCLA continues to be a talent factory for the professional level, and some former Bruins' performances stuck out during week 3 of the NFL season.

One of these names is Darnay Holmes, who's been a solid presence for the Giants'  secondary thus far into 2023.

New York picked Holmes in the first round of the 2020 draft with the 110th overall pick.

In his time with the franchise, he's recorded two interceptions, one fumble recovery, and 16 passes defended, including the one he had against the Niners.

Tough sledding for the Giants' defense thus far into 2023 hasn't stopped the former Bruin from producing on the gridiron for his tenure in the Big Apple.

It's an encouraging sign that the former Bruin has continued to play a significant role for the NFC East squad when many fail to make it multiple seasons in the league.

Holmes' role as a reserve remains a crowning achievement, given the significant turnover year after year within the NFL.

Head coach Brian Daboll guided the roster to a winning record for 2022, and Holmes was part of a defense that won out against the Minnesota Vikings for the team's first playoff victory since 2011.

The team signed Daniel Jones to a pricey new extension for 2023, but early signs of a return for his massive contract haven't been ideal.

Buoyed mainly through Saquon Barkley's offensive production, the Giants' offensive woes span from an injury to the star running back and the line's poor blocking to start the year.

Though Holmes has done well for himself individually, the team he plays for might not be so lucky this season.
