UCLA Football: Lou Grouza Award Winner Submits Perfect Week 4 NFL Contest

A key cog for his team on the rise.

Former UCLA special teams maestro Ka'imi Fairbairn continued his successful season with a great performance against the Steelers this weekend.

The kicker didn't miss an attempt against Pittsburgh and helped his team to their first home victory in over a year thanks to his accurate leg.

Ka'imi Fairbairn, K, Houston Texans – Had another busy day in Houston's 30-6 win over Pittsburgh, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts (from 36, 38, and 39 yards out) while going a perfect three-for-three on PATs. Three of his kickoffs went for touchbacks.

Week 4 proved to be another great one for a Texans team without much to cheer for from the previous two seasons.

Houston switched coaches twice in two consecutive seasons and last year lost out on the number one overall pick thanks to their win against divisional rival Indianapolis in their last game of the 2022 season.

The drop to No. 2  surprisingly may have been the best-case scenario for the franchise after they missed out on Heisman winner Bryce Young to Carolina.

Houston instead chose C.J. Stroud from Ohio State and the quarterback got off to one of the hottest starts any rookie quarterback has had to begin their career.

With over 1200 yards and six passing touchdowns, Stroud's thrown no interceptions behind a battered offensive line.

Fairbairn's contributions to the offense with his kicks have also helped the team put up points in bunches even when Stroud's unit stalls out.

The former Bruin now sits at an 11/12 make rate on the year with his only miss coming on a 50-yard field goal against the Colts in week 2.

Suddenly part of a dynamic offense led by young talents in Stroud, running back Dameon Pierce and breakout wide receiver Nico Collins, the old Bruins kicker has had plenty of chances to show his skills to start 2023.
