UCLA Basketball: Young Bruins Guards' Strong Finish Vs Oregon Turning Heads

They've been a big part of UCLA's midseason turnaround.

Your UCLA Bruins' starting backcourt of Dylan Andrews and Sebastian Mack enjoyed a strong finish against the Oregon Ducks in a 71-63 victory on Saturday, per UCLA Communications.

“They’re great. Again, their pick and roll coverage, they were giving them opportunities with their pick and roll coverage," head coach Mick Cronin said. "After Aday catches a few lobs, then the big man is really backing up and giving them the shots. And they were doing a great job of reading [N’Faly] Dante. Once Aday got a few lobs, Dante was backing up and giving those guys the shot. They did a great job with that. I think the only one they missed, Sebastian got fouled on. They just didn’t call it.”

Dylan Andrews explained his mentality heading towards the end of the contest.

“Our main goal, you know, it was good to see the ball go into the basket, of course, but I feel like our whole team was more focused on getting stops, finishing the possession, defensive rebounding, whatever happens on offense, making sure we capitalize on this because we just got the stops," Andrews explained. "That was our main focus right there.”

Andrews finished with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field (3-of-3 from deep), seven dimes, four rebounds and one steal. In just 25 minutes, Mack wrapped up with 16 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 shooting from the foul line, three steals and two assists.
