UCLA Football: Latest Update on QB Ethan Garbers Doesn't Bode Well for His Playing Chances

Who will start for the Bruins this Saturday?

The UCLA Bruins are coming off an upset loss to the Arizona Wildcats on the road in Week 10. The Bruins suffered injuries to their two quarterbacks, star freshman Dante Moore and junior QB Ethan Garbers.

Now, they will look to avenge their loss this Saturday against the Arizona State Sun Devils; however, it could be without Garbers, whose injury from Saturday hasn't heeled, not even the slightest.

Garbers suffered an apparent right leg injury against Arizona in the fourth quarter and did not return.

And by the looks of it, the junior QB won't be out there for the Bruins. It would be a significant loss for the Bruins, as it looks like they will also be without Moore. In seven games this season, Garbers has completed 68.1% of his passes, has 786 passing yards, and has a touchdown-interception ratio of 6 to 3 with a 153 rating.

His numbers may not jump off the page, but he brings that veteran presence they lacked with Moore. If both are out against the Sun Devils, the other junior transfer QB, Collin Schlee, will be under center for the Bruins. Schlee is used more in running plays and has excelled in them, but his role will be changed drastically if he starts in Week 11.

Head coach Chip Kelly and company have a ton of thinking and work to do if their top two QBs miss this weekend. We'll keep a close eye on the situation, and we'll find out soon who will be QB1 for the Bruins on Saturday.
