Smigiel just wrapped up his sophomore season in which he threw for over 4,000 yards and over 50 touchdowns to go long with a pair of rushing touchdowns. Smigiel has over 25 offers from programs across the country like Notre Dame and Oregon, both of which he will be taking unofficial visits to soon, as well offers from Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, and Utah to name a few.

Smigiel, a three sport athlete (basketball & track), measures up at a self-reported 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds. As it stands, Smigiel is one of the top recruits in the 2026 cycle. 247Sports ranks him as the 30th-best prospect in the country, regardless of position, the 2nd best quarterback in his class and the 4th best 2026 prospect in California.

UCLA currently has zero commitments in their 2026 class, and according to 247 Sports, they actually have only offered two recruits in the class of 2026 thus far.

At the end of his sophomore season, Smigiel was named SB Live's 2023 Southern Section offensive player of the year for his stellar performance from within the pocket at Newbury Park High School. According to SB live, Smigiel attempted over 500 passes during his sophomore season, and in just two years in high school he's tallied up nearly 100 touchdown passes. He is one of the shining gems of the 2026 recruiting class, and will undoubtedly be a hot commodity as his recruitment picks up this offseason.
