The USC basketball program has made a slam dunk hire, hiring Arkansas' Eric Musselman. The school announced the hire on Thursday.

USC fans are ecstatic about the hire as the basketball program is doing all it can to establish itself among the elites in college basketball. This move shows they are serious about competing, especially since they'll transition to the Big Ten conference.

Musselman to USC is a significant hire, so much so that legendary college basketball analyst Dick Vitale couldn't help but praise the Trojans on this move.

Vitale is a staple in the realm of college basketball. He was the voice for ESPN's college basketball broadcast for so long. No one knows about college basketball better than Dickie V.

Musselman will replace former head coach Andy Enfield. Enfield was the coach at Southern California for over a decade and led the program to a 220-146 record. He led the Trojans to five NCAA tournaments.

However, it's a new era for USC, and Musselman will lead it. The 59-year-old led the Razorbacks to a 111-59 record in five seasons. Before his stint at Arkansas, Musselman has coached at different levels since 1989. He was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors from 2002 to 2004 and finished as runner-up for NBA Coach of the Year in his first season.

Big changes needed to happen at USC, and they wasted no time in making them happen. This is a significant hire for the program and athletic director, Jennifer Cohen.
