USC Basketball: Expert Considers Ex-Trojan Key For Monday's Summer League Championship Game

In this story:
USC has churned out some strong talent to the NBA over recent years. Some of the biggest names have been the Mobley brothers, who both landed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Evan Mobley has turned himself into a stud for Cleveland and is one of their core players going forward but Isaiah Mobley also has some skills and is using this summer to showcase them.
The second-year player has been looking good in the summer league and making his case to the team. He has helped get the Cleveland summer league squad to the championship round and will look to do his part to finish the job.
Doric Sam of Bleacher Report lists Mobley as a factor in the championship game on Monday.
"The Cavs are led by 2022 second-round pick Isaiah Mobley, who is the older brother of Cleveland defensive anchor Evan Mobley. The elder Mobley has looked like a stud during the summer league session"
Per Bleacher Report
Over the weekend against the Brooklyn Nets, Mobley dropped 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists to help get his team the win. He also hit the game winning shot in overtime, finishing off an impressive game for himself.
This is the kind of basketball that players like Mobley need to play if they want to carve out a rotation spot for next season. The former Trojan was a second-round pick from 2022 and is still trying to make a name for himself in the league.
In 12 games played for the Cavaliers last season, Mobley averaged just 2.6 points a game, but he did shoot 37.5 percent from three-point land. He may get more opportunities to shine this season and the summer league games are helping his case.
During his time with USC, Mobley averaged 10.1 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game. He has actually shot better from distance in the NBA than college, as he shot 36 percent from three with the Trojans.
Mobley and the Cavaliers will look to finish off their impressive summer run as they get set to take on the Houston Rockets for the summer league championship. If he can put together another strong showing Monday, then Cleveland could end up hoisting the trophy.
