USC Basketball: Disturbing New Details Of Ex-Trojan's Alleged Assault Emerge

In this story:
One former USC Trojans standout-turned-first round NBA draft pick continues to make poor decisions off the court to prevent his progress on the court.
As more details have emerged concerning Kevin Porter Jr.'s arrest, many fans have been shocked and appalled at the current Houston Rockets' actions toward his partner in a domestic dispute. He was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of assault against his former girlfriend, WNBA guard Kysre Gondrezick.
Prosecutors say Kysre Gondrezick suffered a fractured neck vertebra and a cut above her right eye after Porter attacked her in a hotel room at the Millennium Hilton in Manhattan on Monday. Porter, who was arrested Monday, punched Gondrezick in the face repeatedly, leaving her with a cut above her right eye, bruising and "substantial" face pain, according to the criminal complaint. The 23-year-old NBA player also squeezed Gondrezick's neck forcefully in the attack, making it difficult for her to breathe and leaving her with redness and bruising to her neck, the criminal complaint said. Gondrezick was transported to the hospital afterward and was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra in her neck.

A former Trojan star, Porter's path to his new four-year, year $63.4 million contract has been mired in constant poor choices off the court that have stunted his development on it.
He was initially drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 30th overall pick in the 2019 draft. Porter Jr.'s time in Cleveland was marred by mental health concerns for the guard before being dealt to Houston.
Getting into an argument in the locker room at halftime during a game and now this violent crime have made more headlines for the Houston prospect rather than his play for the team.
Despite having put up good numbers while starting in the Houston backcourt for the past two seasons alongside Jalen Green, it's hard to imagine that Porter Jr. is back in action at any point in the near or possibly entire future.
