Andy Enfield nabbed a top guard from his own backyard...

Andy Enfield and the rest of your USC Trojans had a major win on the recruiting trail this past week.

4-star guard Trent Perry committed to the Trojans over reported offers from Oregon, Stanford, St. Mary's, TCU, Vanderbilt, and Colorado (among others).

Hailing from Harvard Westlake High School in suburban Los Angeles, Perry is ranked No. 83 nationally by 247Sports.

This was a major get for the Trojans. From a personnel standpoint, it's highly likely that both Isaiah Collier and Boogie Ellis will be gone from the program a year from now. There's also the possibility that Bronny James will join them on the professional level.

Perry checks a number of boxes as a program-building type of player. For one, he can play both guard spots. Standing at 6-foot-4, he's been a leader for one of Southern California's best prep programs.

While not a fantastic athlete, Perry makes up for that lack of high-end quickness with savvy, basketball I.Q., competitiveness, and skill level.

Famed pop culture/sports mogul Bill Simmons is even a fan of Perry's. Bill's son Ben is a football player at Harvard Westlake. As such, he's surely seen plenty of Perry on the hardwood.

Due to the fact, that he's not a crazy athlete, there are reasons to believe he could stick around and be the Trojans' lead guard for years to come.

This is a major boon for Enfield, especially since he was able to keep Perry home. His high school is less than 45 minutes from USC's campus (depending on LA traffic). Not only that, but USC beat out a number of very good programs for Perry's services.

If you're looking for a potential NBA comparison, Perry compares favorably to veteran Malcolm Brogdon. He projects to be a steady, versatile guard with defensive chops and the ability to stretch the floor from three.

Perry is the second known commitment in USC's 2024 recruiting class. The other is 3-star guard Liam Campbell out of Meridian, Idaho.
