USC Basketball: Pac-12 First-Teamer Reveals How Trojans Reacted To Bronny James News

A totally unexpected situation.

USC Trojans freshman Bronny James' heavily anticipated college debut remains without an exact timetable due to a heart issue that affected him all summer.

The scary situation left many around the basketball fearful for the worst and that included several of his Trojan teammates including Boogie Ellis.

It really caught us all by surprise," fifth-year USC guard Boogie Ellis said of James' cardiac arrest. "And we [were] really hurt by it. But I'm glad that he's doing well. I'm glad to see him OK. And Vince is a fighter, too. So glad to see him healthy and geared up to get back in there with us."

The Men of Troy have plenty of talent in the backcourt to make up for James' absence thanks to Isaiah Collier, Ellis and Kobe Johnson's impressive defensive profile.

Fans still can't help but wonder what James' skills could look like next to his fellow guards and the rest of USC's roster.

James' return remains unknown but what we do know is that he's in stable condition and back in classes on campus.

Such good news seemed so far from reality just a few months ago after James collapsed during a summer workout and needed immediate medical attention.

James' father, Los Angeles Lakers small forward LeBron, already indicated that he'd dedicate his 21st, and possibly (probably not, but possibly) last, NBA season to his son after such a scary incident.

In the meantime, it'll be up to the rest of the Trojans' talented roster to get the job done in James' stead.

2023 marks the final season of the Pac-12 and USC's basketball team certainly wants to send the conference off the right way much like their counterparts on the gridiron are doing for their farewell.
