USC Basketball: Trio Of Trojan Guards Receive Prestigious Conference Accolade

The Pac-12 is optimistic about their 2023-24 season.

Three of your USC Trojans are considered among the best players in the Pac-12, even before the start of the 2023-24 NCAA season.

Connor Morrissette of USCFootball.com reports that incoming freshman guard Isaiah Collier, the top national high school prospect among his class last year, has been voted onto the preseason Pac-12 Men's Basketball All-Conference First Team, an intriguing vote of confidence in the 18-year-old five-star recruit out of Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, a three-time state champ at that level.

Additionally, two returning Trojans have also been named to the squad.

Fifth-year senior point guard Boogie Ellis, the second-highest scorer in the Pac-12 last season (17.7 points on .434/.480/.805 shooting splits), also made the preseason All-Conference First Team. The 6'3" San Diego vet, a team captain, was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team for his efforts during the 2022-23 season. He is considered to be a potential late second round NBA draft prospect next season.

6'6" junior guard Kobe Johnson, a Pac-12 All-Defensive Teamer last season, made the preseason All-Conference Second Team, as the athletic wing looks to blossom as a scorer this year.

It will be fascinating to see if this trio can thrive together this season, alongside another intriguing possible NBA prospect, freshman guard Bronny James, who continues to recover from a July 24th cardiac arrest due to what doctors later determined to be a "significant Congenital Heart Defect," according to a Jeff Borzello of ESPN.
