USC Basketball: Arizona Game's Trojans High Scorer Reveals Why Team "Had To Do It For Our Seniors"

Next up: the Pac-12 Tournament!

Following your USC Trojans' stunning 78-65 upset victory over the visiting Arizona Wildcats on Saturday night, junior swingman Kobe Johnson took to the team's Twitter/X account with a powerful missive:

"Sup Trojan nation, it's Kobe Johnson, we just got off a big upset win over Arizona, you know we had to do that for our seniors, send them off in a good way," Johnson said. "Carry this into the Pac-12 [Tournament] next week. Fight on!"

Along with fifth-year senior transfer DJ Rodman, Johnson was the contest's high scorer for the Cardinal and Gold, having notched 19 points apiece. The victory improved USC's still-underwhelming season record to 14-17 (8-12 in the Pac-12). Johnson achieved his 19-point scoring mark on 6-of-9 shooting from the field (1-of-3 from long range) and 6-of-7 shooting from the charity stripe. He also swiped six steals, double the total tally of the entire Arizona team, dished out four dimes, and pulled down three rebounds, in a team-high 34 minutes of action.

Rodman's 19 points came on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor (2-of-3 from deep) and 3-of-4 shooting from the foul line. He also chipped in seven rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.

Next up for USC is a match Wednesday in the Pac-12 Tournament, against the Washington Huskies.
