USC Basketball: How Andy Enfield Wants Bronny James To Reverse Shooting Cold Streak

Andy Enfield does not want Bronny James to stop shooting.

It hasn't been the smoothest start for guard Bronny James as he began his college career for USC basketball. James, the son of NBA star LeBron James, has struggled with consistency through his freshman year at USC.

Bronny has been unable to put up points consistently, highlighted by his getting held scoreless through USC's past two games. Even amid these struggles, USC basketball coach Andy Enfield still believes in the young player and does not want Bronny to stop shooting.

“I know he’s … going through a little streak of some missed shots,” Enfield said of Bronny James Tuesday, “but we want him to take every open shot he can, and put pressure on the defense by driving it."

Bronny has missed all fourteen of his field goal attempts -- including seven three-point attempts --over the past three games. He has not scored a single point over the past two games, and last successfully scored when he made two free throws in USC's latest win over Stanford.

The freshman will hope to go back to his production level from a few weeks ago when he had a two-game stretch versus Oregon State and Cal with consecutive 10+ point games. Those two games were a peak as Bronny has yet to make more than two baskets from the field in the same game outside of those two.

Instead, Bronny put up two rebounds and one assist in the past three games. Overall on the season, Bronny is averaging 5.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and a 34.8% average shooting rate from the field through the nine games he has played.

Bronny will get his next chance at improving his scoring on Wednesday when USC faces No. 12 Arizona on the road. Bronny should have plenty of opportunities to record more points after getting his first start this past weekend, and with injuries to teammates like Isaiah Collier.
