USC Basketball: Insider Unpacks How Bronny James Could Impact LeBron's LA Future

In this story:
Bronny James is set to enter his freshman season at the University of Southern California and we all know that the 18-year-old guard is not your average top-ranked basketball player. Seeing that he is the son of one of the greatest athletes of all time, he will unfortunately (and fortunately) be held to standards that very few have in the past. There are many critics that believe that he has only been gifted top rankings along with scholarships due to his last name.
However, Bronny possesses a skillset that would have garnered national attention no matter who was his father. He has blossomed into one of the best perimeter defenders amongst his class and every year, he has improved from three-point land and gotten more athletic. Bronny also stays out of the spotlight when he can and he'll be sharing the backcourt with a seasoned guard in Boogie Ellis and the number one ranked player in his class in Isaiah Collier.

Therefore, his freshman campaign with the Trojans should be quite special and even if he doesn't win the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award, he'll have NBA scouts keeping a close eye on him every game and if he continues the path he has been on, he'll definitely have a good chance of declaring for the draft next year and finding a suitor.
However, this is where LeBron James steps in because he has also made it clear over the years that his final goal in the NBA is to share the court with his son. He's stepped back a little recently and said he would respect if Bronny did not want to but a new report from Brian Windhorst complicates things yet again.
" According to ESPN's NBA guru Briand Windhorst, LeBron has now put more stock into having the opportunity to play alongside Bronny than on winning his fifth championship: “I honestly believe that LeBron cares more about
playing with Bronny
than he would about getting another ring,” Windhorst said."

The Los Angeles Lakers do not get to keep their first round pick next year so if another team grabs Bronny, LeBron may very well be on the way out. We'll have to see how this plays out!
