USC Basketball: LA Native Point Guard, Top 5 In Class, Talks Visit With Trojans

In this story:

Fans of the USC Trojans are going to have the pleasure of watching three of the best guards in nation suit up for their basketball program this year in Boogie Ellis, Isaiah Collier and Bronny James. Head coach Andy Enfield has been giving his guards over the past few years a ton of freedom with the ball to create.

At the college level, it's not always easy to find a squad where a point guard is assessed a ton of scoring responsibilities but USC is starting to trust in his guys if they earn it. We'll have to see how much success this current lineup has when the season kicks off but this system could serve as a nice building block for the future.

In fact, the Trojans are already eyeing one of the best rising stars at the high school level in Trent Perry. Perry will be graduating in 2024 and he has shown the ability to score in key possessions while also creating easy looks for the rest of the offense. He recently spoke on his visit to USC's campus and broke down the positives of their program.

“That visit was more about getting to know the school and how they act with the basketball team. Since

USC

is local, I know about the team, so that visit was much more about seeing how the program is run. They let

Boogie Ellis

go last year. I feel like if I were to choose

USC

, I would step into a similar role and show what I can do. I’ve seen first-hand that

Coach (Andy) Enfield

lets his guys play."

It does look like Perry likes the freedom that Enfield has been giving to his guards and this could end up being a great pairing!
