USC Basketball: Trojans Fall Short Yet Again In Overtime Thriller Vs Cal

These teams put on a show for LeBron James.

In their second of two regular season meetings this season, the Trojans fell to the California Golden Bears 83-77 in overtime on Wednesday night.

They've now split their season series, with the Trojans winning their first contest back on January 3rd at Galen Center.

At 9-14 overall and dead last in the Pac-12, the Trojans' nightmare season continues. Worse, the big issue that's been apparent in other losses -- rebounding -- reared its ugly head yet again tonight. The Trojans were demolished on the glass, 55 to 33, ceding a whopping 20 offensive rebounds to the Bears.

With Trojans freshman Bronny James' All-Star dad LeBron in the crowd, the Trojans were able to tear down a 16-point lead and eventually force overtime, but the fact that they ever trailed by that much to a bad Cal team is a massive concern in itself.

USC simply doesn't have the size, consistent scoring, or consistent shooting to compete with even conference opponents. You can consider it a rebuilding season, but with 5-star recruit Isaiah Collier having entered the picture, along with Boogie Ellis returning for his final season, this team could easily go down as one of the most disappointing of any Power 5 program in recent memory.

Here are their top plays on the day:
