USC Women's Basketball: Trojans Even Impress Lindsay Gottlieb With Arizona Win

USC now moves on to face the rival Bruins in the semi-finals.

The USC Trojans women's basketball team earned a hard-fought win over the Arizona Wildcats to move on in the Pac-12 Tournament. USC will now face off against the rival UCLA Bruins in the semi-finals for the right to reach the championship game.

But the Trojans aren't taking anything away from their big win over Arizona. They know that they didn't pay their best, but still found a way to come out on top.

USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb was impressed with the resolve of her team against Arizona, showing a level of fight in the game.

“Our team continues to impress me with finding ways to win,” USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. “I think we’re at our best when we’re getting contributions everywhere. I think we ended up being toughest when toughness was needed.”

This is the mark of a good basketball team, winning in every possible way. Star JuJu Watkins didn't have her best performance, but others around her stepped up to earn the victory.

Watkins has carried this team all season long, but it was her turn to be carried. When she needed her teammates most, they showed her that she could trust them to make the needed plays.

“It’s March, we’re here to win,” Marshall said. “If you don’t have on ‘USC,’ we’re here to compete and win.”

The Trojans have the look of a real contender this season and will be a force to deal with in the NCAA Tournament. They first need to get by the Bruins, but they should be feeling very strongly about their chances in the big dance.
