USC Women's Basketball: Trojans Plummet in AP Rankings After Back-to-Back Losses

The Trojans have fallen to their lowest ranking this season.

The USC Trojans have been on a tear this entire season, but that has been snapped by their first back-to-back losses. After getting revenge on UCLA on January 14, the team has since been beaten twice.

USC dropped their first of the back-to-back to Utah, as they fell 78-58, making it the biggest loss of the season. While the hope was the team would bounce back, they dropped another loss to Colorado 63-59.

Every team often goes through tough games, no matter how good they are. The Trojans are still great and will bounce back. Still, their AP ranking has plummeted.

The AP Poll has the Trojans at #11 this week, which is five spots down from last week. The Trojans remained at #9 despite losing to UCLA first. After their big revenge win, they had jumped to #6 overall.

The Bruins also fell to #5, making the rivals far closer in overall rankings. Sadly, the Trojans' two losses make them fall out of the top 10.

Hope is certainly not lost, but two losses in a row is something we imagine head coach Lindsay Gottlieb will be talking about with the team. The Trojans will have a chance to rebound on January 26, when they take on Washington State.

Their next three contests will be tough against Washington State, Washington, and #2 ranked Stanford.

Should the Trojans win all three, they will catapult to the top of the AP rankings.
