First Official NFL Mock Draft Reveals Caleb Williams Draft Position

In this story:

The USC Trojans season didn't turn out quite the way that anyone would have hoped, but some players still put up solid individual seasons. Per usual, the Trojans will be sending multiple players to the NFL Draft, and there is a possibility that a member of the Trojans gets selected very early on.

The first mock draft from NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah has dropped, and Jeremiah is one of the better analysts at predicting when college players will be called up.

There have been many conversations about where Williams will be taken, but Jeremiah has ultimately joined the consensus. USC quarterback Caleb Williams will go to the Chicago Bears, according to Jeremiah.

"We’ve seen Justin Fields continue to improve, but I still believe GM Ryan Poles’ decision at No. 1 overall will be an easy one. The Bears select Williams, the most talented quarterback in the class."

Per Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com

While the Bears do have Justin Fields, the appeal of Williams may be too much for Chicago to handle. His talent is one that we haven't seen in a while, and he could be a true game-changer for the Bears.

Fields has been good, but Williams's potential may see them move on from him. The Bears could get their franchise quarterback in Williams, and then trade Fields for more draft capital.

The Bears shouldn't overlook Williams here, and it's the smart play for them. If it plays out the way many believe it will, we could see the former USC signal-caller end up in the Midwest.

Williams has been talked about as the first pick in the draft since he won the Heisman Trophy last season. He is dynamic on the field and can elevate his teammates around him.

Chicago has been trying to reach that next level for a long time, and Williams may be the missing piece. We will surely see many more mock drafts as we get closer, but Williams remains a favorite to go first overall.
