Five-star offensive linemen recruit Austin Attalah is set to announce his commitment on Aug. 25.

The class of 2028 recruit told On3’s Greg Biggins he plans to announce his decision on The Pat McAfee Show, deciding between the USC Trojans, Texas Longhorns, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Attalah is the No. 1 recruit from California and the No. 3 offensive tackle according to 247 Sports Composite.

The 6-7, 270-pound junior from Orange Lutheran has been quickly moving through his recruiting process.

“I feel I’m ready, and I’m excited to get this done,” Attalah told Biggins. “I’ve kind of grown tired of the recruiting process, and I’ve known where I’ve wanted to go for over a month now.”

USC were the first of the three to offer Attalah on Mar. 7 during an unofficial campus visit.

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns offered Attalah back on Mar. 27 and Texas Tech joined in the chase in April.

On Jun. 4, Attalah trimmed his options to eight, among them two schools from the Golden Gate state – USC and the California Golden Bears.

Over the summer, Attalah also transferred from Cajon High School (San Bernadino) to Orange Lutheran in the prestigious Trinity League.

Another two months went by before Attalah cut the list to three.

The Florida State Seminoles also made him an offer just four days after revealing the three top schools.

And now, with less than a week away from USC’s season opener against San Jose State, Attalah is ready for his next move.

247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction under Blair Angulo currently favors Texas Tech as the landing spot for Attalah.

Angulo has a 93.64 percent all-time prediction record and a 93.73 percent record for the 2027 class.

Attalah has family ties to the Lone Star State. His grandparents’ ranch is in Floydada, which isn't far from Lubbock.

Attalah told 247Sports that his decison comes down to development and NFL production.

The Success of USC Recruiting

The Trojans boast one of the best recruiting classes of recent. Lincoln Riley’s 2026 class was the top-ranked class in the country, while his 2027 class is among the top 20.

His 2028 class, which already features a commit from five-star quarterback Trey Wright, has an immense number of local prospects.

Offensive line coach Zach Hanson has been responsible for landing some of the top players at the position. Five-star Keenyi Pepe and four-star Drew Fielder in 2026 and 2027 respectively, are among them.

Former Cajon teammate Taylor Johnson is also a member of the Trojans squad. If the Trojans are able to overcome the predictions and land Attalah, it'd be a big boost for USC's 2028 class. It'd put Riley and Hanson in a good position to secure another impressive offensive line haul.

The outlook of Attalah’s decision can really go in every direction. While the Red Raiders are heavily favored, don’t be shocked if USC comes around for Attalah’s next home.
