In this story:

The USC Trojans are doing all they can to prepare for the 2024 season. It will be the biggest as they will be debuting in the Big10 Conference.

All eyes will be on the Trojans as they will prove they belong and dominate the competition. The best way to do that is to grab as many top prospects as possible, and they are trying to do so with a five-star wide receiver from Georgia, Mike Matthews.

Matthews is an incoming season at Lilburn and has caught the eyes of many prestigious colleges; however, he's brought it down to four teams, with USC among the four.

247Sports believes he is coming down to his decision in the near future.

The other three schools Matthews is considering are Clemson, Tennessee, and Georgia. He took a trip to USC last month and had nothing but great things to say about the school and what it has to offer.

“It’s an exciting and up-and-coming team in college football,” Matthews said coming out of that second trip.. “I would love to be a part of an organization that has something to prove. The opportunity to be somewhere with a great athletic, academic, and living environment.”

And, to no one's surprise, Matthews had nothing but lushing things to say about the second-year head coach Lincoln Riley.

“He just constantly tells me about all the opportunities I can get from USC and not even like on the football field, but outside of that too,” Matthew said. “How it looks on my resume, how good of a business school they are and all the other aspects they’re good in to.”

According to On3Elite, Tennessee is favored to land the five-star WR at 86.7%, followed by Clemson, Georgia, and USC.

Even though they're last according to On3Elites prediction machine, Matthews's mother, Regina, loved what she saw in Southern California.

“The official visit to USC was awesome!” Regina said. “The West Coast vibe, large-market offerings, quality education and style of offense are a few things that stood out the most. The USC coaching staff were welcoming and I was impressed with the academic programs and alumni network who were visible all weekend. The history of this prestigious school sells itself.

“We received the red-carpet treatment and ‘Hollywood’ style official visit. From the luau party at Coach Riley’s house, the yacht party to the backdrop of LA. We truly enjoyed their hospitality and family spirit. Mike has some great schools to choose from and each shines in their own way.”

Matthews is the number four receiver in the nation, and the number 13 overall prospect; anybody would be lucky to land him.
