Super Bowl 2023: Former USC star JuJu Smith-Schuster has been chasing ring 'for past 6 years'

Smith-Schuster praised USC for preparing him for the NFL

Players and coaches from the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles faced the cameras for the first time during Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday. The two teams will face off on Sunday in Super Bowl LVII from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Former USC Trojans and current Chiefs JuJu Smith-Schuster and Ronald Jones were a part of the action discussing everything from the big game, USC football and Philadelphia cheesesteaks.

Smith-Schuster started his media availability by talking about his excitement for the Super Bowl saying: "I've been chasing a Super Bowl ring for the past six years."

He also broke down how USC football helped prepare him not only to play in the NFL, but also to deal with the media.

Smith-Schuster went on to rank the best barbecue spots in Kansas City.

The former USC receiver caused the most 'controversy' when he took a shot at Philadelphia's cheesesteaks.

"The best Philly cheese steaks are not in Philly to be honest," Smith-Schuster said.

He was also asked about his thoughts on potentially playing an NFL game in Brazil. Smith-Schuster responded by talking about how much he enjoyed watching the Brazilian soccer team play in the World Cup.

ESPN and Pro Football Talk reported on Tuesday that Smith-Schuster can earn an additional $1 million if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl and he plays 50% of the offensive snaps. Smith-Schuster signed a one year deal in Kansas City last offseason that was extremely incentive-heavy, but he's already hit most of them.

Smith-Schuster injured his knee in the Chiefs AFC Championship win over the Bengals. He's currently listed as questionable to play in the Super Bowl, but the fact that he spoke to reporters on Monday is encouraging.
