USC Football: Lincoln Riley Hints At Major Quarterback Overhaul Via Transfer Portal

In this story:

The USC Trojans are prepping for the Holiday Bowl, where everyone will get to see Miller Moss in action as the starter. Despite Moss stating that he is not worried about the team adding more QB talent via the transfer portal, that is exactly what Lincoln Riley aims to do

Despite his coyness about entering the NFL Draft, it is to be assumed that Caleb Williams will be entering the draft, and is slated to be #1 overall in most mock drafts.

Losing Williams is already enough, but Malachi Nelson has also entered the transfer portal, leaving the QB room a bit thin. The good news is that the Trojans were able to land Will Howard, who entered the portal after leaving Kansas State.

Though landing Howard was a big enough get, Riley is not stopping at that.

Riley is now aiming to land two more transfer portal QBs, who will act as competition and depth for both Will Howard and Miller Moss.

Moss may have all the confidence in the world, but Riley wanting to bring in more talent at the QB position could place Moss in a precarious situation.

The good news is that Moss will be the starter for the Holiday Bowl on December 27, and he has every opportunity to cement himself as the starter heading into the 2024 season.

Should Moss put on a clinic, Riley could place more stock in Moss being the starter moving forward. Adding depth will always happen, but it's up to Moss to secure his chance at being QB1 once these new transfer portal recruits come in.
