WHAT WE SAW

- When USC defensive coordinator Alex Grinch jogged out of the locker room and onto the practice field, he greeted reporters with a smile and referred to the rain as "liquid sunshine." After practice, Grinch addressed reporters for the first time since USC's 46-45 Cotton Bowl defeat to Tulane.

- New defensive analyst Greg Brown was on the practice field with the Trojans on Tuesday.

- It looked like some USC players were enjoying practicing in the rain. During warmups, Mario Williams, Austin Jones and Kyron Hudson were dancing as they stretched out.

- Michael Tarquin continues to take reps at left tackle.

- When cornerback Jacobe Covington left the practice field, he yelled out "the defense runs USC!"

- Covington's claim backed up what Lincoln Riley said after practice: "We've got a great [defensive] plan I think we've executed well up until this point and the practices to this point have been completely back and forth, probably overall won a little bit more by the defense."

- USC held its annual Pro Day prior to practice starting. Several Trojan players came out to support the 15 Pro Day attendees including Korey Foreman, Justin Dedich, Cooper Lovelace, Miller Moss, Caleb Williams and many more.
